Al Lipscomb Way Closure Between Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Good Latimer Expressway
October 9, 2023 - October 10, 2023
Weather permitting, eastbound and westbound AL Lipscomb Way will be closed from Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Good Latimer Expressway from 10 p.m. on October 9, 2023 and opened no later than 5 a.m. on October 10, 2023.
DETOURS
Eastbond traffic will turn left onto Harwood Street, then turn right onto Hickory Street, then right on to Good Latimer Expressway, and turn left to return to Al Lipscomb way.
Westbound traffic will turn right onto Good Latimer Expressway, then turn left onto Hickory Street, and turn left onto Harwood Street, and turn left to return on Al Lipscomb way.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Closure and Traffic Shift between Malcom X Boulevard to Cleveland Street.
October 2, 2023
Weather permitting, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed overnight between Malcolm X Boulevard to Cleveland Street on October 2, 2023, at 8 p.m. through October 3, 2023, at 5 a.m.

Weather permitting, Starting October 3, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed for one lane reconfiguration each direction (eastbound and westbound) between Malcom X Boulevard to Cleveland Street.
Southbound US 175 (S.M. Wright Freeway) Al Lipscomb Way Closure

Weather permitting, Southbound US 175 will be closed between Al Lipscomb Way and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard beginning August 29, 2023.

August 28, 2023 through August 29, 2023
Weather permitting, Al Lipscomb Way will be closed in both directions (Eastbound and Westbound) from Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Good Latimer Expressway overnight from p.m. on August 28, 2023 to 6 a.m. on August 29, 2023
DETOURs
Eastbound traffic will turn left onto Harwood Street, then turn right onto Hickory Street, then right on to Good Latimer Expressway, and turn left to return to Al Lipscomb Way.
Westbound traffic will turn right onto Good Latimer Expressway, then turn left onto Hickory Street, and turn left onto Harwood Street, and turn left to return on Al Lipscomb Way.
Eastbound and Westbound Pennsylvania Avenue Closure
Starting August 29, 2023- September 29, 2023
Weather permitting, Pennsylvania Avenue will be completely closed in both directions (Eastbound and Westbound) from Southbound S.M. Wright Freeway to Northbound S.M. Wright Freeway on August 29, 2023 through September 29, 2023.

Eastbond traffic will turn right onto Southbound US-175 service road and take a U-turn on Metropolitan Avenue, then take a left on Northbound US-175 service road.
Westbound traffic will turn right onto Kimble Street and turn left on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, then take a left on Southbound US-175 service road.
Eastbound and Westbound Pennsylvania Avenue Closure
Starting August 23- August 25, 2023, And August 28- August 30, 2023
Weather permitting, Pennsylvania Avenue will be completely closed in both directions (Eastbound and Westbound) from Southbound S.M. Wright Freeway to Northbound S.M. Wright Freeway on August 23 through August 25, 2023 and August 28 through August 30, 2023 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
DETOURs
Eastbound traffic will turn right onto Southbound US-175 service road and take a U-turn left on Pine Street, then take a left on Northbound US-175 service road.
Westbound traffic will turn right onto Kimble Street and turn left on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, then take a left on Southbound US-175 service road.
Southbound US-175 from Al Lipscomb Way to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
August 22, 2023
Weather permitting, Southbound US 175 from Al Lipscomb Way to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed on August 22, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
DETOUR
Traffic will continue on Al Lipscomb Way and then turn left on S Ervay Street and then turn left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to access US 175.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Closure and Traffic Shift between Malcom X Boulevard to Cleveland Street.
Has Been Postponed
Weather permitting, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed for one lane reconfiguration each direction. This closure will happen in the next few weeks. The exact date is still to be determined. Notification of at least 72 Hours will be given prior to the closure.

July 28th through July 29, 2023, and July 31, and August 1, 2023
Weather permitting, Al Lipscomb Way will be closed from Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Good Latimer Expressway from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 29, 2023, and July 31 and August 1, 2023.
DETOUR
Eastbound traffic will turn left onto Harwood Street, then turn right onto Hickory Street, then right on to Good Latimer Expressway, and turn left to return to Al Lipscomb Way.
Westbound traffic will turn right onto Good Latimer Expressway, then turn left onto Hickory Street, and turn left onto Harwood Street, and turn left to return on Al Lipscomb Way.
Street Closures on Northbound S.M. Wright Freeway, Near Metropolitan Avenue
Weather permitting, the following streets: Hickman, Romine, Jordan, Dathe, Cooper, and Lenway at Northbound S.M. Wright will be closed with no access to S.M. Wright Freeway starting July 25, 2023.

Weather permitting, Pennsylvania Avenue will be completely closed in both directions (Eastbound and Westbound) from Southbound S.M. Wright Freeway to Northbound S. M. Wright Freeway on July 21, and July 24 through July 29, 2023 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Al Lipscomb Way Closure
July 8, 2023
Weather permitting, Al Lipscomb Way will be completely closed from Cesar Chavez Blvd. to Good Latimer Expy. on July 8, 2023 from 6 a.m. to 7p.m.
Lawrence Street Closure
June 1, 2023 - June 7, 2023
Weather permitting, Lawrence Street will be closed from northbound US 175 to Harwood Street from June 1 to June 7.
Closure of Southbound Good Latimer Expressway Right Lane
March 18, 2023 - April 1, 2023
Weather permitting, the right lane of southbound Good Latimer Expressway and access to westbound AI Lipscomb Way will be closed March 18 to April 1 for construction.
Detour
Southbound traffic on Good Latimer Expressway intending to turn right and go west on AI Lipscomb Way will use detour of turning right on to Hickory Street, and turn left on to Cesar Chavez Boulevard to continue to AI Lipscomb Way.

Eastbound traffic will take a right onto Ervay St., then take a left on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.,then take a left on Malcolm X Blvd., then take a right onto Al Lipscomb Way.
Westbound traffic will take a left onto Malcolm X Blvd., then take a left on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., then take a right on Ervay St. and a left onto Al Lipscomb Way.
Northbound traffic will take a right onto S Good Latimer Expy., then take a left on Hickory St., then take a left on Cesar Chavez Blvd. and a right onto Al Lipscomb Way.

Weather permitting, southbound Cesar Chavez Boulevard from Clarence Street to Al Lipscomb Way will close November 28 to December 20 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for construction work.

Southbound traffic will take a right onto Al Lipscomb Way, then take a left on Ervay St., then take a left on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to access southbound S.M Wright Frwy.

Closure of the Northbound I-45 Entrance Ramp From Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard

Weather permitting, the northbound I-45 entrance ramp from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will close October 27 beginning at 7 a.m. in order to construct a new entrance ramp on the east side of I-45.
Detours
Eastbound traffic will take a right on Colonial Ave. and continue along the southbound IH 45 frontage road, then take a U-turn at Botham Jean Blvd. to access northbound IH 45.
Westbound traffic will take a left on Colonial Ave. and continue along the southbound IH 45 frontage road, then take a U-turn at Botham Jean Blvd. to access northbound IH 45.

Closure of the Southbound I-45 exit ramp to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
OCTOBER 26, 2022
Weather permitting, the southbound I-45 exit ramp to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will close October 26 beginning at 8 p.m. Southbound traffic will take the I-45 Lamar St. exit ramp (Exit 283A).
Detour
Southbound traffic will continue straight on IH 45 and take Lamar St. exit ramp (Exit 283A), then take a right on Botham Jean Blvd., then take a right on Forest Ave. to continue along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

October 25, 2022 - Early 2023
Weather permitting, the westbound Metropolitan Avenue from Octavia Street to Wendelkin Street will close daily beginning October 25 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until early 2023 for construction work.

Closure of the Southbound I-45 Frontage Road Between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue
October 13, 2022 - Early 2023
Weather permitting, the southbound I-45 frontage road from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Pennsylvania Avenue will close daily beginning October 13 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. until early 2023 for construction work.

Construction Begins
TxDOT announced construction work will begin for the S.M. Wright Phase II Reconstruction Project with advance utility work starting on July 6, 2020.
The work will be split into three (3) phases during the abatement process:
Phase 1 will affect traffic along the frontage roads, u-turns, and lanes along Pennsylvania Avenue on the north side of the intersection.
Phase 2 will affect traffic along the frontage roads, u-turns, and lanes along Pennsylvania Avenue on the south side of the intersection.
Phase 3 will affect traffic along I-45, including the outside lane and closure of the Lamar Street exit ramp nightly.
Note: Scheduled construction is subject to weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
